With the growing interest in global environmental issues such as global warming, ecosystem conservation, and depletion of resources, we should shift from fossil resources to biomass resources. After receiving ISO 14001 certification in Sep. 2007, Horimasa Co., Ltd. has been supplying environment-friendly products, mainly bearing. As a one of the sustainable business, we found “hemp”, a natural material, might become a solution to these problems and set up a new business promotion office. We have acquired exclusive marketing rights in the Asian region for products of HEMPFLAX (in the Netherlands, the company have already led the hemp industry in Europe) and MICA (in Italy, a venture company with innovative bio-technology/knowledge), and aim to popularize HEMP bioplastic products. We will provide new solutions to global environmental issues using bioplastics with global collaboration.
Bioplastics – plastics that are bio-based, biodegradable, or both – are innovative ECO materials. They have the same properties as conventional plastics and offer additional advantages, such as a reduced carbon footprint or additional waste management options such as composting.Bioplastics are an essential part of the bio-economy and a fast-growing, innovative industry that has the potential to decouple economic growth from resource depletion and environmental impact.
